Good Design® Award 2018: LAGO wins the international award for its Bold Table and innovative XGlass

In the award’s 68th edition, the Bold Table and XGlass have each won first-place in the categories, respectively, Furniture and Building Materials. The Good Design® Award is a prestigious international award, organised by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design in collaboration with the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies, that annually recognises the industry’s most innovative projects and products, involving designers, architects, planners, studios and companies from all over the world. The Bold Table, designed by Daniele Lago and presented at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2018, seems to want to challenge the force of gravity. Indeed, the ultra-thin table top is supported by a single, off-centre leg. Thanks to the demanding engineering testing we carried out to ensure the table’s sturdiness, the Bold table is extremely stable. The magic lies in the shadow: a physical black element that eliminates the need for a central base, lending stability along with the table leg. The absence of bulky legs frees the table from constraints, rendering it comfortable and versatile, with room for lots of diners, amplifying the feeling of sociability and making sharing its strong point. The revolutionary material XGlass was developed in a search for finishes for contemporary interiors. Thanks to the digital revolution, LAGO is the first company to offer the design world a process that makes it possible to transfer images to glass, reinterpreting different materials, like marble, wood and metal. XGlass combines the fine qualities of glass with the emotions of a whole range of other materials. The strength and thinness of the glass make it applicable to most LAGO products, including kitchens, wall units, sideboards, tables, dressers and bedside tables. XGlass is also an innovative solution for reducing environmental impact in many cases and improving social impact.
