For the Salone del Mobile.Milano 2024, LAGO is presenting a piece from the new Collezione Venezia, designed in collaboration with Monica Armani: the Altana sofa.
The Collezione Venezia is inspired by the city’s history, centred around the dialogues and encounters between people and cultures that have dominated its past, owing to its role over the centuries as a hub for trade and commerce. From this vantage point, Monica Armani has created a new range of living room furniture, designed to become icons of contemporary living around the world.
The Collezione Venezia will be presented at Casa LAGO and will also be on show at LAGO’s stand E11-F06 (Pav. 24) at the Rho trade centre for the duration of Milan’s Design Week.
"For this year’s Salone del Mobile, we’re diving deeper into what happens when people and cultures meet and contamination takes place. We chose Monica Armani from the various designers we’ve been working with to create a Venetian-inspired collection,” said LAGO’s CEO & Head of Design, Daniele Lago. “We wanted to draw on the city’s rich history as a crossroads of people and worldviews. It was clear from the start that we had a lot in common with Monica Armani in terms of how we interpret design.”
Altana is a modular upholstered sofa with a neat, elegant build inspired by traditional Venetian rooftop terraces known as altane. These secluded architectural spots are the perfect place for meeting people and relaxing.
The sofa is light and linear with taut, tapered lines and abundant forms. Its visually soft cushions made from high-quality materials have been designed to offer optimal comfort.
The floor supports have an oval cross-section and intersect at 45° with the upholstered, angled profile of the bases, while the seat cushions and backrests sit on platforms to create interest.
Wooden legs are the new distinctive feature of this design. They come in different coloured ash wood plus a range of lacquered colours to add a textured touch. Combine them with LAGO fabrics and other accessories to design your own interior style.

Architect, daughter of art, Monica Armani was born in a leading place in the Italian rationalist movement. In the family studio she was trained at a school where the equation of detail is the first reference: form, function and technology are refined until the best possible balance is achieved, in a synthesis represented by her manifesto "Design in Molecules".
Industrial design becomes a natural continuation of this experience.
