LAGO Wins the 2017 Smau Innovation Prize

LAGO was singled out among the most innovative companies and institutions in Italy for Talking Furniture, an application that connects furniture with smartphones At SMAU Milano 2017, LAGO won the prize for Innovation for Talking Furniture, an app that lets you connect your furniture to your smartphone. This new functionality evolved from LAGO’s conviction that the real design revolution lies not so much with the object as with what happens around it. The project, which began in 2015, is the fruit of LAGO’s research on the Internet of Things and aims to create direct interaction between furniture and people, expanding and improving consumer experience. Bringing your smartphone close to the chip, which has been attached to every piece of LAGO furniture, you can automatically connect to the LAGO DESIGN app and receive information about the product instantly. ‘We wanted to create an info-commerce project that would enrich our products and turn our designs into smart furniture that meets the needs of today’s consumers’, explains Daniele Lago, ‘With the goal of putting the individual in the centre, we created an app that can dialogue with our users and provide, even offline, useful information about our products. Talking Furniture is a flexible project that can be used in a wide variety of contexts, including shops and public spaces, originating a vast range of possibilities and imaginaries. It is a new experience developed to allow people live all of the furniture to the fullest.’
