Fuorisalone: LAGO celebrates respect for tomorrow, opening the doors to its Milan hotspots, and launching a temporary store by the Navigli canals, entirely dedicated to hospitality

LAGO has always seen design as a tool for social transformation; every year, for Milan’s Design Week, it delves into a current topic, exploring and describing it using the language of design. This year, LAGO has decided to look to the future with “Never Stop Respecting Tomorrow”, an idea exploring the theme of sustainability, interpreting it through the broader concept of respect. With over 60 events planned, LAGO is opening the doors of its favourite locations around the heart of Milan to the design community, offering a series of events centred around the idea of respect for our planet, animating the Fuorisalone fringe programme with sports sessions, morning rituals, talks, workshops and aperitifs. LAGO has chosen to work with numerous partners who share the company’s same vision of respect. These include Moleskine, with its iconic compact diaries, and Nito, with its electric scooters. In addition to Casa Lago and Appartamento Lago, this year will also see Il Faro, a temporary space on the Navigli canals, furnished by LAGO and made even more striking by a light installation created by Artemide, and the panoramic view it offers over the city. Finally, the collaboration between QC Termemilano and the LAGO Store is also continuing this year, with an exclusive, moon-themed evening event on Wednesday 10 April. At Casa Lago by Milan’s cathedral in Via San Tomaso 6, visitors can find over 400 square metres of design-packed space. Here, Never Stop Respecting Tomorrow will come to life over the course of the week with a rich programme of events based around our daily rituals. The day will start with some muscular awakening in sessions run by the personal trainers at Under Armour, followed by breakfast with Julius Meinl. In the afternoon, Nintendo Labo will take us on a tour of its new gaming experiences. At lunchtime, visitors can dine with Marcato from Tuesday to Thursday and with Acqua Valverde on Friday, in the company of author and TV presenter Csaba dalla Zorza. There will also be a wealth of talks with special guests such as BMW on Tuesday 9 April, discussing sustainable mobility and moderated by Lifegate, and Dyson on Wednesday 10 April, exploring a new concept of sustainability in the domestic space. And Thursday 11 April will offer no less, looking at respect for food and the environment with Michelin star chef Philippe Léveillé, Riccardo Felicetti of Pastificio Felicetti and Raffaele Boscaini of Cantine Masi. Friday 12 April promises two sessions with Enrica Acuto Jacobacci, CEO of Jacobacci & Partners, and curator Elena Re exploring the works of Lucio Fontana, as well as an olfactory masterclass on ambient fragrances with Master Perfumer Dr Paolo Vranjes. During the week, it will also be possible to admire the Project Room dedicated to Lucio Fontana, with six works by the artist from the Jacobacci & Partners collection on display and a focus panel by Elena Re. The installations will also include a special olfactory composition by Dr Paolo Vranjes. Kicking off Milan Design Week is the Never Stop Respecting Tomorrow Opening Party on Tuesday 9 April from 6.30 pm, during which Casa Lago by Milan’s cathedral will be opening its doors and offering an evening of food, wine and music. The event will start with an aperitif with wines from the Cantine Masi, followed by a cooking demonstration by Michelin star chef Philippe Lévillé, and accompanied by a live acoustic session with Les Fleurs Ensemble. Ten years after it was first opened, Appartamento Lago at Via Brera 30 is changing. Prepare to welcome Appartamento Lago Contract Lab - MAD051 Materials, a place dedicated to hospitality, real estate and work spaces, which will be opening its doors during the Milan Design Week to planners, designers and architects. Here, thanks to our collaboration with the MAD051 studio, you can arrange an appointment with sector professionals, discover finishes and explore new solutions for accommodation facilities, as well as taking part in talks with businesspeople who have chosen LAGO to design their spaces. Guests from Tuesday to Friday evening will include French real estate giant Nexity, banking group Intesa Sanpaolo and tour operator Azemar, owners of the Cocoon Maldives resort. Morning brunches will be prepared by Funny Veg Academy, which has renewed its partnership with LAGO again this year, while the afternoons will see the Appartamento Lago open its doors to the general public, welcoming visitors with perfume workshops with a fragrance designer (Tuesday and Thursday) and the Tailor Made cutlery customisation project organised by Sambonet (Tuesday and Wednesday). Looking out over the Navigli canals at Via Bettinelli 3 is “Il Faro”, the temporary space chosen and furnished by LAGO. The idea is to offer a new kind of hospitality experience. On the ground floor, there is a lounge and a coworking space offering somewhere for visitors to relax, while the terrace on the top floor offers a 360° panoramic view of Milan, running from San Siro to the cathedral. Here, visitors can also find a light installation designed by Artemide, making this spot visible from anywhere in the city. Over the week, the venue will host a variety of talks such as the one on Saturday 13 April with sustainable brand Wråd, as well as gaming sessions with Nintendo and aperitifs with Bitter Rouge and Malfy Gin of Compagnia dei Caraibi.
