NEVER STOP CARING is the concept that LAGO, a leading brand in the design and furniture sector, is presenting at Design Week 2022. A pure yet energising call-to-action, inviting you to never underestimate the beauty of the simple act of caring.
The NEVER STOP CARING vision takes many forms: Good House, the stand that slashes CO2 emissions by 87%; LAGO Forest, 80 hectares of land among the unspoilt hills of San Gimignano; and Animal Zero, the new XGlass finish that adds an exotic touch to the sleek lines of LAGO furniture.
For Design Week 2022, LAGO is carrying forward its consolidated “Never Stop” formula as a declaration of intent, expressing the different facets of the company’s challenge to consider design as a tool for social transformation capable of caring, while also creating value and culture. After diving into travel in 2016, kindness in 2017, the genius of Leonardo in 2018 and non-conventional sustainability in 2019, this year LAGO has decided to explore the theme of “Never Stop Caring”, breaking it down into multiple aspects.
GOOD HOUSE
The reusable 800 m2 stand that reduces CO2 emissions by up to 87%.
The aim was to transform the stand into a revolutionary piece of ecological architecture. This was the challenge LAGO set with Good House. Designed like a contemporary, sustainable home, it will be the focus of LAGO’s exhibition space covering some 800 m2. Good House takes visitors on a journey of cultural awareness in a setting designed to present the very best of the new collections by LAGO, a leading furniture and design company, and, in doing so, find a new balance between people, nature and technology.
Good House has been designed with the circular economy in mind and as such is fully recyclable and can be reused for multiple years. Thanks to its zero waste and drastically lighter and more compact build, Good House ensures greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere (including CO2) are reduced by up to 87% compared to a traditional trade fair stand.
With a view to “open innovation”, the Good House project was created together with Spinlife – a spin-off of the University of Padua, with specific expertise in environmental sustainability in business – and Henoto, a BolognaFiere company specialising in trade fair stands.
LAGO FOREST, San Gimignano
Keeping the forest breathing.
Nestled among the hills of San Gimignano lies the LAGO Forest: an unspoilt natural habitat covering some 80 hectares of woodland and pastures, with its own typical farmhouse. Through this project, LAGO has made a pact with nature, driven by a desire to promote responsible forest management over the years, to protect the landscape and all the forms of life that inhabit it.
LAGO will work to safeguard biodiversity, take preventive action against hydrogeological instability and implement inclusive projects for the community and town of San Gimignano, considered to be among Italy’s tourist gems.
The LAGO Forest project is an invitation to find a balance between the activity of design and the responsibility to care, with behaviours and passions that bring people together and create harmony.
“LAGO Forest is one of the directions our Never Stop Caring campaign has taken,” says Daniele Lago, CEO & Head of Design at LAGO S.p.A., “and it’s perhaps the one that best encapsulates our responsibility to safeguard and protect. Seeing design as a tool for improving people’s lives also means thinking about real, strategic ideas that lead towards something like this. This project invites us to reflect on the balance and harmony between humankind and nature, with an ongoing project-based approach through initiatives we’ll be launching in the coming months and years.”
ANIMAL ZERO
Technology that brings nature to life.
Since the dawn of time nature has been drawing us in and inspiring us to create clothes, furniture and objects. With Animal Zero, LAGO is offering a new, sustainable and contemporary way of letting you fulfil your desire to add an exotic touch to your furniture with zero impact on the animal world.
The new collection widening the scope of XGlass encompasses unique, exotic and wild patterns. XGlass is an innovative tech-based product launched four years ago by LAGO to combine the qualities of a noble material like glass with a vast array of materials without consuming any natural resources. Snakeskin and crocodile skin are the new stars of this collection, bringing exotic traits to the clean lines of LAGO design. They leave their mark on the interiors without having an impact on the animal world, inviting you to delve deeper into the world of contemporary furniture.
In addition to being on show at LAGO’s stand, Animal Zero’s evocative textures will also be at the fore at Casa LAGO, just a stone’s throw from Milan’s Duomo, with an exhibition inviting you to reflect on the relationship between humans and nature.
